Photo Assignment #1, Dike

The Graham family's 32nd Annual Crab Feast took place at their Dahlgren Va., home that overlooks the Potomac River. Attendants from Maryland had to cross the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge to get to the waterfront property.

Residents in the Chesapeake Bay area have noticed that this year's crabs have not been up to par in size and flavor. The bushels on Saturday Sept. 7, 2013 however, were better in quality than most of the summer's crabs because of the late August season.

Picking and eating crabs is a tradition for many residents in the Maryland-Virginia area. The Graham's relatives, neighbors, and friends joined in on the end-of-summer festivities. Some of the attendants have been driving across the Potomac River for the tradition for decades.

Mallets, knives, Old Bay seasoning, and vinegar were scattered along the paper covered picnic tables to aid in picking and seasoning the crab meat. About twenty tables were set up in the yard along with the game "Corn-Hole" and several hammocks.
